Here's a few things to think about for your first lacrosse game as a parent:
Parents help make sure their son has everything important before they leave the house! Stick, mouthguard, cleats, water only, etc.
Parents get their son to the field on time.
Parents guide their son to put his gear on the far side of the field where the scorekeeper table and tent are set-up.
If it appears that help is needed to get the game rolling, parents lend a hand.
Parents watch from the opposite side of the field (from the players), and they don't consume latte's on the artificial turf.
Parents don't yell at the refs, even when they are enticed by the rude parents of the other team yelling at the refs! The refs are high school volunteers trying to do their best.
Parents have fun getting confused with each other about the rules of LAX.
At the conclusion of the game, parents don't rush their kid off the field. Parents walk out to the middle of the field and watch the two teams honor a total of four players with the "Honor of the Game" sticker, awarded to good sportsmanship and skill.
Parents compliment their son, no matter what the score. LAX is a hard game to learn and play (especially at 3-4) and all of us need to keep the kids enthusiastic about learning!
If help is needed to "tear down", parents lend a helping hand.
Well, that's about it. I think if you follow this guide, you'll dig the game of lacrosse.
